Catchlight in action

Introducing Catchlight, the most advanced programmable light source for the iPhone™ and iPod® Touch.

Now you can use your iPhone as a catchlight / eye light for film and video, as a miniature softbox for low-light photography, or as a light source for tabletop photography, all with complete control over color temperature.

The interface couldn't be simpler. Just drag two fingers across the screen to adjust the color balance. Catchlight ignores single-finger touches, so you don't have to worry about accidentally changing the color while handling the device.

Drag straight up to make the light warmer (more orange), down to make the light cooler (bluer), and left or right to control the green/magenta tint. After a few uses, it'll become second nature, and you'll be able to match any light source in just a few seconds.

When you find a light color you like, just hit the info button in the bottom-right corner of the screen, and type in a name to save it. Over time, you can build a whole library of light colors. Or you can select from the 16 presets*, which range from 2500°K to 10,000°K.

Sometimes you may want a round light source, so that the shape of the catchlight in the subject's eyes is round. Just double-tap the screen to toggle the round mask on and off.

With Catchlight, you're carrying the most flexible small light source in the world in your pocket.

For support, don't hesitate to contact me! Catchlight is available from the iTunes App Store.

* Individual devices may have slightly different native color temperatures.
